A 17-YEAR-OLD man is being treated in hospital for a bullet wound after being hit in the second drive-by shooting in four days.
Tasmania Police said the man's injury was not life-threatening and have dispatched ballistic and forensic teams along with a crew of CIB officers to investigate the site at Elwick Road, Glenorchy.
Neighbours say they heard two or three shots about 8:30pm. It is thought that the weapon was a shot gun.
Comments on the Mercury's Facebook page described hearing as many as four shots.
"l heard the shots. The kids asked 'was that gun shots?' l said 'Don't be silly.' ....Wow.. So not good," wrote Lisa MacDonald, of Glenorchy.
Another neighbour, Kelli Keelan wondered what the shots were. "Way, way too close," she posted on Facebook.
"It scares the hell out of me too ... What on earth has Tassie come to? The new Sydney? Without the harbour?" asked Tanya Hildebrand.
A section of Elwick Road is now being treated as a crime scene and has been shut to the public, with motorists to be diverted along Grove Rd or Constance Ave.
The attack is the second in the past week, after a drive-by shooting at Bridgewater home on Sunday night, where a Police said a man was lucky not to have been shot.
