UPDATE 5pm: A TASMANIAN woman on a birthday holiday has died in today's Pacific tsunami.
Maree Blacker, of Longford, had just celebrated her 50th birthday with husband, well-known horse trainer John Blacker.
The Blackers were holidaying at resort in the southern part of Samoa when the Pacific island was hit by an 8.3 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, about 4.10am Australian time.
Mr Blacker is in hospital with broken bones.
Authorities are concerned about the safety of another six Australians, whom they can't account for.
Another seven have been injured, and three are in hospital. |
