Week 10, 15 – 21 December 2011

My husband asked me if I would like to see photos of the wrecked van. I said I would rather see the real thing and therefore we made a trip to the car yard in Launceston where the vanis resting in peace.

Thanks to the fact that I lost consciousness on impact and lost memory of the few hours after the accident, I looked at the wrecked vehicle as if I was not involved.  I saw the dented roof, blood stained front seats, bits of hair caught in the window. I looked at it just as if I was looking at any one of the wrecked vehicles in the yard.

(P.S. This is a high roof van of 2m tall. My husband is 1.83m tall. Now the vehicle is shorter than him.)

My right wrist had been swelling up these days and, apart from the pain, that hindered the physio exercises. The long awaited orthopaedic appointment eventually came on 21 December.  The hospital orthopaedic doctor said because of the nasty injury, it was normal that I had numbness and swelling. They should go with time. He advised me to observe for a few more months. If the problems persist, I may need an operation to release the pressure on the nerve.

My weekly dinner preparation this week was curry chicken. Not until I tried to peel potatoes using my left hand did I realise that potato peelers are designed for right handers. It was a bit tough having to use my right hand but I anyway managed.
