霍巴特停车超时平均涨到$ 32.50

NEW parking fines introduced yesterday will "provide a level playing field" for motorists, the Hobart City Council says.

HCC general manager Nick Heath said the changes were the first since 2008.

All fines for an expired meter, expired voucher or not having a voucher at all, whether on a street or in a carpark, are now $32.50.

The previous fine for an expired voucher in Salamanca Square, Dunn Place and Melville Street carparks was $65, and the penalty for on-street infringements was $25.

Mr Heath said council reviewed the fines and decided to vary the fees to ensure they were more equitable.

"This is now a far more equitable way of dealing with infringement notices," he said.

Mr Heath warned motorists that overdue fees for infringement notices had also increased.

The State Government increased their fees for traffic infringements by 30 per cent late last year.
