depends what kind of function you want? a full size suv for off road or just a compact suv for daily travel with certain level of 4 wheels drive capacity.
Of all full size SUVs, Land Crusier is your best choose even the price is higher than your budget, but a second hand one is aceptable as its ultimate quality and resale value.

I suggest X-tral 4wd 2.5 disel turbo would be an ideal candidate for your daily use when takes fuel economic, 4wd capacity, reliability and resale value into consideration.

We have a Subaru Forester and if we will have to buy a new one, we will pick the same. We are more concerned about performance than the look. I don't know the other cars that well.  Sorry that I cannot be of much help.
