Students Safety Proposals
Dear Mr. Rigby,
As you know, in terms of the incidents on Grosvernor Street, we give the following safety proposals to enhance campus security work and to call the attention of the Hobart City Council to implement these suggestions:
1. We urgently ask for a safety lecture to be conducted and during which safety brochures and personal alarm device should be provided. We strongly suggest that UTAS send e-mails to international students to call everybody’s attention to this lecture and their safety;
2. To take full use of the personal alarms, it is suggested that Uni could send mails and letters to residents living in sandy bay area where most international students are living so that they know once there is an alarm, there is somebody who needs help;
3. We think it is very necessary that the Hobart City Council should set up more lights and cameras in the area where most international students live and on the streets students from university to go back home;
4. About the incidents on Grosvernor Street, plain campus security staff and plain police should be sent out and try to catch the gangsters as soon as possible to avoid any incidents to happen anymore;
5. More campus security patrols should be conducted, especially at the time around 10pm when library closes and on the streets which are students’ way to home;
Please discuss these proposals with the premier and pass it to the Hobart City Council. Incidents reports and photos are attached to give more evidence. Signatures are all of proposal supporters.
We are looking forward to actions took based on these proposals. |
