Thieves target woman, 90
A 90-YEAR-OLD Hobart woman has appealed to thieves who took her handbag from a shopping trolley to return photos of her late husband.
The woman, who did not want to be named, was shopping at Woolworths Sandy Bay at about 1.30pm on Friday when the thieves struck.
Her daughter said yesterday that she accepted her pension money was lost but hoped that if anyone found the handbag with the photos or a pen that belonged to her father, they would do the right thing and hand them to police.
"A man came and pulled her handbag out of her trolley and ran off," daughter Jane Gluskie said.
"She called out to people but he was too far away and there was a getaway car ready with a lady driving it and another man in it."
She said that a bystander took the registration of the car and police hope to find the offenders with help from CCTV footage.
The family want the incident to serve as a warning to others in supermarkets.
